Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee - is it worth it?!

Hi Everyone!

So I just re-read To Kill a Mockingbird for a class assignment and I have this massive debate going on in my head about reading Go Set a Watchman?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?

A LOT of my peers are saying don’t because it’s ~allegedly~ soul-crushing and online reviews say it doesn’t even sound like something Harper Lee wrote?

Just wondering if any of you have read it and if you recommend it or not.

I probably won’t read it until AFTER I hand in all my assignments for To Kill a Mockingbird because I don’t want my views changed about the characters actions/morals.

Hello E!
I really enjoyed To Kill a Mockingbird, and so I decided to read Go Set a Watchman. I hadn’t read any reviews previous to reading it, but I agree with many of them out there, that it is, not really like a Harper Lee style novel. For me, I found it a bit slow, that I actually left the book for a week before starting it again. Also, it was mostly about Scout questioning everything in To Kill a Mockingbird, and though it is a sequel, all the characters have changed dramatically that it doesn’t feel like the same series. So... I was kind of disappointed and I think if you gave it a miss, that would be totally fine.

Thank you for your feedback! I'm really thinking it wouldn't be as remarkable as I hope it is. I'm not going to go order it from bookdepository.com just yet, but if I come across it in my library I might have a quick flick...
